Taking off from Hot Springs Municipal Airport, crews flew their helicopters to Angostura Reservoir and practiced dipping buckets attached to their aircrafts to see if they can accurately drop water on a target.

Winston Cadott, Aviation Operations for the State of South Dakota says, "If there are no other aircraft in the area then we can utilize the Black Hawks for an initial attack response and they can use the buckets for water drops to help knock down flames."

The exercise is an annual recertification for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Department of Interior.
