GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) _ A 34-year-old Gillette man has pleaded not guilty in the New Year's Eve death of his girlfriend's 2-year-old boy.
Donald D. Foltz entered his plea Tuesday to a charge of first-degree murder.
Forensic experts had testified that the boy died of trauma to his abdomen area. They said the child also had bruises elsewhere on his body.
The Gillette News Record reports that District Judge Michael N. ``Nick'' Deegan denied a request by defense attorney Mitchell Damsky to reduce the $2.5 million bond Foltz is being held on.
Prosecutor Nathan Henkes noted that Foltz has a previous conviction of felony child abuse and a subsequent parole violation.
Prosecutors have 30 days to decide if they will seek the death penalty.
