Members of the Box Elder Fire Department as well as crews from Ellsworth Air Force responded to a fire on the interstate Tuesday afternoon.
Around noon, fire crews were seen near mile marker 67 on the westbound lane of Interstate 90, battling a blaze on the bed of a tractor trailer.
The Box Elder Fire Chief says the driver of the tractor trailer checked on his bales of hay in New Underwood then proceeded onto the Interstate where shortly after he began to see smoke.
The driver tried to extinguish the fire, but the blaze caught too quickly and it took firefighters roughly five hours to put it out..
Weather was not a factor and there were no injuries. The cause is unknown, but is not under investigation.
