We wrapped up this year's Rising Star of the West Scholarship Contest earlier this week, crowning this year's winners on Tuesday. And just leaves the fun part of the contest, handing out a total of $7,500 in scholarships from Black Hills FOX and Monument Health.
This year, thanks to Monument Health, the total value of scholarships is once again at $7,500. The first place winner will receive a $4,000 college scholarship, with $2,000 for second place, $1,000 for third place and $500 for fourth place.
The 15th annual Rising Star of the West Scholarship Contest features a total of $7,500 in scholarships from Black Hills FOX and Monument Health. The contest is open to all high school students in the area.
Douglas High School senior Ireland Larsen was the big winner this year.
She was picked by a combination of your scores and the scores of our Black Hills FOX panel and heads off to Drake University with a $4,000 scholarship.
