Multimedia Journalist

Dakota News Now (KSFY/KDLT) is looking for a full-time multimedia journalist for its new Pierre Newsroom. Check out one of the best kept secrets in South Dakota. Located on the banks of the Missouri River, the state’s capital is a must for anyone who loves the outdoors.

The Pierre Newsroom is a shared partnership with KSFY/KDLT in Sioux Falls and KOTA/KEVN in Rapid City. You’ll be working for two powerful television organizations, and sharing stories on a daily basis to an audience across the state of South Dakota.

We want someone who can connect with the community, understands quality storytelling and is able to gather their own content. An interest and understanding of state politics is a must.

The ideal candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to work under a deadline. You also must be self-driven and be able to work independently.

You will be responsible for shooting, writing, voicing and editing stories for television and internet. Live reports will also be expected. You should also be skilled in social media and online news production. Time management skills are a must.

The ideal candidate must be able to work odd hours to complete assigned stories and cover breaking news. You must be able to carry 35 to 45 pounds of equipment. A valid driver’s license as well as a safe driving record is necessary. The right candidate should be prepared to begin working in June.

This person reports directly to the news directors of KSFY/KDLT and KOTA/KEVN.

A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, political science or related field of study is required.
