Thunder claim Rendezvous title with win over Gillette

By  |

Out to the Thunderdome for the final game of the Rendezvous at Rushmore tournament. The Rushmore Thunder taking on Gillette.
3rd period of play, Thunder up 3-1 and on the attack, Brian Petereit (peter-right) fires, the rebound over to Derrick Brown who pulls the trigger, but Cade Shields survives.
Later, Gillette on the power play, but the Thunder playing well, Petereit (peter-right) flies down the ice, a late deke and beats Shields for the short-handed Thunder goal and a 4-to-1 lead.
Gillette getting some chances, Tommy Lubnau (lub-now) works around two Rushmore defenders, has a chance with the backhand, but goes just wide of the net.
Late in the third, Rushmore on the power play, Gillette clears the puck, John Young gets a little lazy handling it. Great hustle from Austin Newson to get to the puck, circles the net and fires, but Young gets back into position *just* in time to make the save.
Rushmore wins the Rendezvous tournament, picking up the win in this one 4-to-1.
