Yes, we had a Sasquatch sighting tonight as Spearfish hosted the Badlands Big Sticks in Expedition League play and it is possibly the clearest view of the beast in history if we're honest.
And we start things off in the fourth inning with Daniel Freiburger at the plate and Freiburger takes this pitch very nearly out of the park but settles for the double. Freiburger with the easy stand-up variety two-bagger.
And that sets things up nicely for Haydan Hastings, who slashes a single past second base into center to bring Freiburger home and make it 3-1 Squatch, who were looking like they might be getting to the Big Sticks a bit.
Next hitter for Spearfish is Carter Thompson and he takes one right in the back from Badlands starter Carter Grytdal as the Sasquatch look to break things open.
But Grytdal settles down here and gets Aaron Funk swinging to end the inning as the Sasquatch take the 3-1 lead.
In the fifth, the Big Sticks try to get things going but Oklahoma signee Aaron Fritts grounds to AJ Davis and the Spearfish shortstop makes a nice play.
And the Sasquatch go on to take this one 5-1 as Cody Carlson goes six innings, allows just the one run on five hits and picks up the win.
