The Spearfish Sasquatch picked up a 1-0 win over the Hub City Hotshots last night in Aberdeen thanks to a masterful performance from starter Steven Dennis, who went 8-1/3 innings and allowed just one hit.
Bigfoot, beer, beanbags and baseball on a beautiful night at Black Hills Energy Stadium.
Fifth inning action and Pierre at the plate with Cal Smith at the plate and he takes this Jackson Arnsdorf pitch to center but Spearfish's Aaron Funk makes a nice catch in center for the out all tied at 3 apiece.
Next up Pierre's Jack Stamper grounds to Anthony Rodriguez at third and Rodriguez gets the force at second but Stamper is safe at first as the initial bobble on the catch costs the Sasquatch a double play.
And that would be costly as Tate Ellison takes this pitch to left field and Stamper comes around to score and make it 4-3 Pierre ... but check out the relay as Garret Teisher makes an initial misplay but gets the ball into AJ Davis at short, and the Sasquatch get Jack Waletich, who pays for it a bit with a face full of dirt, to end the inning.
Bottom of the fifth, Davis at the plate and the Pierre shortstop makes a bad throw, allowing Haydan Hastings to come in and score and tie things up at 4.
But unfortunately the Sasquatch end up giving up three more runs as they lose this one 7-4.
