There's a brand-new, world-class athletic option for area youth right here in Rapid City and guess what? It's open to anybody.
The Rapid City BMX Association opened its brand-new track on Wednesday at Robbinsdale Park and is already providing members of the local biking community plenty of joy, not to mention opportunity.
"Today is the fruition of all our dreams come true. We are standing at a top-10 track in our entire country, we had an Olympic track builder who has done the last three Olympics, a guy by the name of Tom Ritz who came in and has designed just a superb national-caliber track that all the kids in Rapid City will just be thoroughly enjoying," track director Chris Blair said. "And tonight is our kickoff and we've got over 100 riders that have come out to take part in our opening night ceremony."
Racing is held Mondays and Wednesdays and is open to the public with registration starting at 5:30 p.m.
