The State Legion baseball championship was set for Sunday afternoon. Undefeated Pierre, taking on the scrappy Mitchell Post 8 team.

This is what the teams are playing for, a shot at the State title, and some new hardware.

We'll start in the top of the 5th, Pierre leads 5-1 and continues looking strong as Kyle Stover strikes out Carson Max looking to end the inning.

In the bottom of the 5th, Mitchell matches Post 8's defensive effort as Mike Lusk sends the ball flying out to left field and Carson Max gets the revenge out, diving for the lay out catch. What a play!

On to the top of the 6th, Pierre still leads 5-1, looking to add to it as Brad Dean rips it to right field, it bounces off the wall. Two runs come in to score to put Pierre up by 6.

The tournament MVP, Landon Badger takes the plate next. He shoots it though the gap into right field, and Dean comes in to score.

But there was a big 7th inning for Mitchell. We'll jump ahead to the top of the 9th, and this game's tied up at 10! Pierre's Austin Hoss pops up the bunt, and Post 18's Sam Michels is quick to makes the diving catch!

Now we're in extra innings, top of the 11th, two men on as Hoss takes the plate. He smacks it into the gap in center field Peyton Zabel and Garrett Stout score. Pierre would take the win after 11 innings 12-10 the final score. Let's get an ear in this post-game celebration!
