The local tennis season has been a little slow to get going as area teams have been forced indoors to complete matches while waiting for things to warm up a bit ... but optimism abounds as players are chomping at the bit to get going.
The outlook is bright at many of the local schools as the number of players out at a couple of schools are eye-popping, and coaches say the talent is there to be developed.
Jason Olson said, "We've got a great nucleus, we return five varsity kids ... there's a lot of good teams ... St. Thomas More out here is very good ... RC Christian is improived. RC Central has a ton of kids out. Spearfish and Central have maybe the most kids out for tennis around, which is a good thing ... state-wide Lincoln and O'Gorman, Washington Roosevelt, all four Sioux Falls schools ... Mitchell and Roncalli ... there's a lot of tough teams."
Andrew Ley said ... "There's some room for improvement last year and this year I think we'll be able to at least win a few more matches."
While this weekend's Rezatto Rumble in Aberdeen was cancelled, the local teams are looking to get back into the swing of things as, hopefully, the weather warms up a bit next week.
