Five Douglas High School athletes solidified their futures today as they signed with different colleges to continue their athletic careers.
Trevor Severson, Chance Sorensen, Austin Hughes, Russell Morton and Brynn Combs all had a signing ceremony at the school today.
Severson is headed to the University of South Dakota to sprint and jump for the Coyotes, Sorensen is headed to Dakota Wesleyan to play football, Hughes will compete in the hurdles for the Tigers, Morton is headed to Sterling College in Kansas to play basketball and Combs will play golf at the University of Minnesota-Morris.
"They have the D-1 level, they have great athletes and I'm excited to be able to compete against them and definitely be able to push me beyond my limits of high school. And I'm excited to start working with some of my future teammates and I love the coaching staff at USD. They treated me really well when I visited there and just the competition," Severson said. "I can't wait to start pushing myself to get better."
Severson, Hughes and Sorensen will all compete in this weekend's Class AA state track and field meet in Sturgis and Rapid City.
