First day of the RC Invitational hits the mats

We're just one week into the high school wrestling season, and area grapplers have already been hard at work on the mats around the region. Following the Custer and Mandan Invitationals last weekend, athletes laced 'em up again this weekend for the annual Rapid City Invitational tournament.
Out to the Barnett Arena at the Civic Center. End of the first round of action at 170 pounds.
Sturgis' Jake Sailer and Philip's Kaylor Pinney, Pinney with the late lead, Sailer picks up the takedown, scrambling in the comeback, but Pinney gets the decision 8-to-6.
Up to 220, Central's Timmy Paris and Mandan's Darek Vega, Paris with the nice ankle pick and Vega right to his back. Paris would pick up the pin.
Consolation action, at 113 pounds, RCS Landen Fischer and Lennox's Bobby Smidt and Fischer will get the pin.
Consolation action at 132, Douglas Tyler Blasius and Central's Kayleb Twomey. Blasius fights off the throw and gets a handful of backpoints as Blasius gets the win 15-to-1.
Back to 2nd round championship match at 145 pounds, Central's Riley McSherry and Huron's Matt Katz.
McSherry going to work late, twists the Tiger til he gets the shoulders to the mat for the stick.
The Rapid City Invitational continues through Saturday.
