First Cinch Rodeo event held in Sturgis

It wouldn't quite feel like summer was coming in South Dakota without a little rodeo, and we head up to Sturgis for the inaugural Cinch Team Varsity Cup high school rodeo at the Sturgis Fairgrounds.

And we start things off with a hometown girl as Wacey Brown guides her horse through the barrels nicely here in a time of 16.28 seconds to take the lead in the event.

But Faith's Kailyn Groves would follow Brown's ride with a sub-16 second effort of her own to give the Longhorns a win in the barrels ... nice ride from an all-around athlete who is also an all-state basketball player there.

And we head to the bulls and here's eighth-grader Jack Rodenbaugh from New Underwood, called up to the varsity to field a full team, and young Jack may be wishing he wasn't after this one as this bull sends him airborne.

Here's Wall's Trey Elshere closing things up in the bull riding and the Eagles could win the team title if Elshere posts a score. But he followed the rest of the bull riders with a no score and New Underwood wins this first-ever event.
