We start things off in Spearfish with the first game in Spearfish Sasquatch history and former Rapid City Post 22 standout Zach Solano singles in the first run in franchise history. The Sasquatch took two of three from the Souris Valley Sabredogs in their opening series.
Sticking with the baseball theme, it's Rapid City Post 22 and Rapid City Post 320 playing and 22's Cooper Bowman shows why he's an all-stater at shortstop with this great play ranging to his right and making the throw for the out as Post 22 takes the win.
And it was state track and field weekend in Rapid City and here is Stevens junior Elizabeth Schaefer winning her fourth consecutive Class AA 300-meter hurdles title. Schaefer won the event in 44.46 seconds and also won the 100-meter hurdles championship, her second, earlier in the day.
Next up we've got the boys Class B 300-meter hurdles and Wall's Andrew Law finishes strong to win a state crown in a time of 40.68 seconds.
Next up we've got Belle Fourche's Shayla Howell winning the Class A triple jump. Howell won four events at the Class A state meet once again, giving the all-time great 12 career state track and field championships.
At No. 2 it's Sturgis runner Ethan Brenneman capturing the Class AA boys 800-meter championship in a time of 1:55.45 to top Sioux Falls Washington's Bonheur Mvuyekure. Brenneman also anchored the Scoopers' winning sprint medley relay team.
And at No. 1 we've got Hill City's Marion Hohn running down Vermillion's Maddie Lavin on the anchor leg to win the Class A girls medley relay for the Rangers. Hohn reeled in the Class A girls MVP to give Hill City the win by 4-hundredths of a second.
