We get things started at the Queen City Classic in Spearfish with multiple-time state champion Shayla Howell of Belle Fourche ... here Howell wins the 400-meter dash ... the defending Class A state champ in the 100, 200, long and triple jumps ... also won the 200-meter dash, long and triple jumps in Spearfish last Tuesday ...

Next we head over to McKeague Field for an intra-city showdown between St. Thomas More and Rapid City Stevens ... and Stevens' Austin Stiles ropes one to the wall in left for a double ... Stiles thinks about trying to take three but thinks better of it as the Raiders went on to rally and take a 9-8 win in extra innings off the Cavaliers ...

Back to Spearfish for track and field and another defending state champion as Rapid City Stevens' Elizabeth Schaefer wins the 300-meter hurdles ... Schaefer is a three-time state champion and is looking for her third straight Class AA 300-meter hurdles state title this season ...

Sticking to the state champion theme ... we go to Rapid City for the Track-O-Rama and Rapid City Central triple jumper Sage Hagen ... The 2017 state champion in the event gets the crowd going before uncorking a 46 foot jump here on his way to winning the 2018 Track-O-Rama triple jump crown ..

And the number one play of the week goes to Rapid City Central catcher Dennis Green ... who makes an absolutely picture perfect throw to catch a Rapid City Stevens baserunner stealing in Wednesday's game between the Raiders and Cobblers ... this out proved to be a big one as the Cobblers went on to win 14-13 in the game between crosstown rivals ..
