Rapid City Central hasn't necessarily had a dominant season on the gridiron but the Cobblers have managed to accomplish something that every coach, regardless of sport or level, hopes to see -- tangible improvement from week to week.
The Cobblers enter this week's Class 11AAA quarterfinals as a decided underdog against a Brandon Valley team that beat them 47-7 back on September 14th.
But if the Cobblers have learned anything in winning three of their final four games of the season, it's that they're a fundamentally different team with a different chance as they prepare for Thursday night's game in Brandon.
Iverson said, "We're, on the offensive side of the ball, a completely different team. We still try to do our run game principles but we've been able to incorporate more of our passing game which makes us a more dangerous team on offense. Last time we faced them our offense could hardly get anything going and so our defense is kind of predicated on our offense doing well and so we hope to just sustain some drives this week and take as much time off the clock as we can and see where we're at at the end of the game."
The sixth-seeded Cobblers and third-seeded Lynx are scheduled for a 6 o'clock Central Time kickoff on Thursday. Join us tomorrow night for a closer look at the Cobblers' season ... and how they're hoping the progress they've made this year will help set a foundation for future seasons.
