Woodcarvers display and demonstrate their art at the fair

On Monday the Hay Camp Woodcarvers showed off their craft at the Central States Fair.

The Woodcarvers gave live demonstrations, sharpened knives for free, and displayed over 100 carvings.

One member says he likes woodcarving because it's artistic, keeps him busy, and meets new friends through his hobby.

Greg Fordyce says, "We have a lot of teachers and it doesn't take a great deal of skill. It's just a learning process that anybody can learn and various tools involved, but people, you don't need a lot of tools. It's a very cheap hobby to get started in."

The woodcarvers will be at the fair all week from 12 to 8 in the Fine Arts Building.

People can enter a raffle for one dollar for a chance to win their very own art carving.
