WDT grads get payback on education investment

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Western Dakota Tech completed a 10-year study and found students who go there get a 226 percent return on their investment within five years of graduating.

That was one of the statistics Western Dakota Tech President Dr. Ann Bolman discussed with those attending the 2018 Economic Impact Summit.

She says some of their degrees only take up to a year to complete while others take several years.

This can cost anywhere from a few thousand dollars up to about $25,000.

But she says it will be worth it in the long run.

“Our students alone in earnings over the past 10 years made a quarter of a billion, with a b, dollars more than if they had just gone into the workforce with a high school diploma,” states Bolman.

According to Bolman, over the last 10 years, 89% of their graduates stay in the state and 88% stayed in western South Dakota.
