The origin of the $4.25 million Elevate Rapid City Economic Development Initiative
The new project entitled Elevate Rapid City is a $4.25 million economic development initiative that aims at growing and creating prosperity for Rapid City and the Rushmore Region. The project focuses on initiatives including Ellsworth Air Force base, helping those that have trouble helping themselves, and overall conjoining a group of community leaders that can work closely with the public sector. One business leader says the people in the community played a big part in initiating this idea.
"People in town started to realize we need a real core leadership group and we have alot of initiatives, We have alot of positive momentum going right now throughout the community as far as new industry coming to town, new incubated industry businesses that have taken root and they're building new structures and things are happening, lots of hiring going on," said Jim Scull, CEO of Scull Construction Services.
Scull mentioned the future of the Sanford Lab and gave props to the mayor as well as the governor for making strides in social impact.
More than two dozen investors have already pledged over $3 million which marks nearly 75% of the public-private goal.
