Summerset launches new alert system

Summerset residents have a new way to be alerted of emergencies in the area.
The city is launching the CodeRed alert system, sending out mass messages in case of an emergency. The police department says the notification system could be used for snow-related road closures, child abductions, or even to remind residents to get out and vote.

Lonnie Harmon, Senior Officer with Summerset Police Department says, "The instant access that we need to get out is invaluable. To be able to get that information out at a moment's notice of whatever is going on... you can't put a price on that in our opinion."

The system is in place now and ready for use. If you're interested in signing up, you can visit and follow the link to get registered. The CodeRed app is available in the app store.
