Southern Hills donors give $12,500 to nonprofits

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Through the Black Hills Area Community Foundation a group of local
philanthropists established a giving circle: Black Hills by Choice – Southern Hills.

On Tuesday Nov. 27, the Black Hills by Choice – Southern Hills giving circle gathered to discuss giving grants to organizations in the Southern Hills. They spent considerable time and thought in narrowing down the grants. The Black Hills by Choice-Southern Hills Giving Circle has approved grants to the following organizations:

• Boys & Girls Clubs of the Black Hills: Grant Award for $1,750 for their Teen Tech program.

• Edgemont Library: Grant award for $1,010 for updates and renovations.

• WEAVE (Women Escaping A Violent Environment): Grant award $2,500 for roof repairs.

• Hot Springs Ministerial (Food Pantry): Grant award for $1,000 for Turkey & Ham Drive.

• Youth & Family Services, Southern Hills: Grant award for $2,870 for Mental Health Gaps.

• Operation Black Hills Cabin: Grant award for $2,870 for Transportation Assistance.

• Red Cloud Indian School: Grant award for $500 for Lakota Language Project.

The Black Hills Area Community Foundation works to grow long term philanthropic assets to support the needs of the region. The Black Hills Area Community Foundation is a local nonprofit organization that promotes and facilitates charitable giving. The Board of Directors are philanthropists and business leaders who represent all of the service area and who serve without compensation.
