Sanford Underground Lab hosts international conference
Those studying the universe underground came back up to the surface this weekend to share their research and experiments.
The South Dakota School of Mines hosted the Conference on Science at the Sanford Underground Research Facility.
Scientists presented their findings to researchers from across the country and even some from around the globe.
Sanford Underground Research Facility is located a mile underground near Lead and organizers say its not often all the scientists are together in one place.
Luke Corwin, organizing committee member says, "The unique part of this conference is that it actually brings together all the different kinds of science done at SURF. We have physicists, geologists, biologists, engineers, all talking about and exchanging information about all the different research that is done at the underground facility and that will be done at Sanford Underground research Facility."
The conference continues Monday with more lectures and a tour of the research facility.
