Earth Day is dedicated to ending plastic pollution, and on Sunday folks here in Rapid City were cleaning up Mother Earth at a park.
Adventure gear store Roam'n Around took advantage of the nice weather by hosting their first ever Earth Day Cleanup in Founders Park.
Employees and other locals walked along Rapid Creek to pick up trash.
As an outdoor store, Roam'n Around says it's important we take care of our parks and recreational areas.
Roam'n Around Event Coordinator Luke Boone says, "Part of the whole events that we're doing is to try to help encourage and facilitate good outdoor experiences. And so not only is hiking and biking and getting out in that way a good experience but also maintaining and almost having a responsibility in keeping what we use clean and in good working condition. I think that's part of a good outdoor experience as well.
Earth Day's goal this year is to end single-use plastics and promote 100 percent recycling of plastics.
Boone also adds that people can either come to Roam'n Around in downtown Rapid City or visit their Facebook or Instagram page for future outdoor-related events.
