Rapid City school district expands meal program

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Three more Rapid City Area Schools sites will get free breakfast and lunch, bringing the number of RCAS sites to nine.

The new schools on the list are Canyon Lake Elementary School, South Middle School and Central High School. This, according to an RCAS release, adds about 2,500 students to the free breakfast and lunch program funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

For the past four years, General Beadle Elementary, Horace Mann Elementary, Knollwood Elementary, North Middle School, Robbinsdale Elementary and South Park Elementary were participating in the program.

The Rapid City Area Schools has taken advantage of the program since it became available nationwide in the 2014-2015 school year.
