A recent study says construction jobs are on the rise in Rapid City, and we asked one local construction company if they've personally seen this growth.
According to the Associated General Contractors of America, Rapid City saw a five percent increase in construction employment from January 2017 to January 2018.
Ross Jones with Jones Construction Company say they're very busy now and can hardly keep up with phone calls for new homes, remodels, and home additions.
Jones Construction Company Owner and President Ross Jones says, "Well it's good for everybody. It raises sales tax dollars, excise tax money. The builders are busy and paying their bills."
Although inclement weather in the winter has pushed back some of their projects, Jones say they'll be even busier in the summer.
Statewide, the General Contracts of America say South Dakota experienced a three percent increase in construction, mining, and logging jobs.
