Rapid City Rush goes Lavender for Cancer

Rapid City The Ice Arena at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center is turning Lavender and it's all for a good cause.

The Rapid City Rush are hosting their annual cancer fundraiser this weekend.

Fans painted the ice with names of loved ones affected by cancer and during this Saturday's game, the players are wearing Lavender Jerseys.

This event was formally Pink At the Rink but organizers felt the need to honor those with all forms of cancer.

Joe Macdonell, Rapid City Rush president says," Pink at the rink was for breast cancer and while that fight is still continues we felt there was a need to expand out to some of the other cancers that are plaguing our community right now."

Volunteers from Rapid City Regional will be collecting donations for the cause and there will also be a "game worn" jersey auction after the game with all the proceeds going to the Vucurevich foundation.
