This was a busy weekend for DUI arrests in Rapid City.
Police said they were going to have extra officers on the shift looking for impaired drivers.
They said they ended up making 16 DUI arrests between noon on Friday and Sunday night at midnight.
One of those arrests came after a Sunday night accident.
This happened Sunday night a little after 9:00 under the I-90 bridge over Haines Avenue.
Police say witnesses told them a Toyota Camry was heading north on Haines at high speed, ran a red light and hit a Ford pickup, causing it to roll.
The driver of the pickup had to be extricated from the vehicle.
Police say the driver of the Camry, 27-year old Elijah Whitehorse of Rapid City,was found on the ground outside the vehicle and was charged with third offense DUI, reckless driving, driving under revocation, failure to obey a traffic signal and no proof of insurance.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
