Breaking News: Police investigating life threatening Tuesday night shooting

Rapid City Police are investigating a Tuesday night shooting that has left a male victim with serious life threatening injuries.

This is according to an RCPD press release sent out a little after 10:30 Tuesday night.

The release says shortly after 8:00 pm Tuesday night, police received a report of a male that had just been shot. The person reporting the shooting was inside a vehicle which was taking the victim to Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Police made contact with the occupants of that vehicle at Rapid City Regional. According to police, they talked to witnesses and learned the shooting took place in alleyway behind the 700 block of Blaine Avenue.

A single male was shot and suffering serious, life threatening injuries.

Police have not released the age of the victim.

Police say a large number of detectives have responded to assist in the active ongoing situation, and they plan to work through the evening to determine the specific circumstances regarding the shooting.

According to the police statement, there is no ongoing threat to to public safety at this time and they plan to have more information available Wednesday morning.
