Rapid City, SD (KEVN TV)- Rapid City Police are investigating the city's second homicide in less than 24 hours.

They say the victim is a young male about 20 years old.
Police are not releasing the victim's name until his relatives have been notified, which is standard protocol.

Wednesday afternoon, just before 3 pm, Police say they received a call about an unresponsive man in the backyard of a home in the 300 block of East Adams Street.

According to the RCPD, when emergency responders arrived they found a young male in the backyard of the home and determined he was deceased with a gun shot wound to the head.

Police are treating it as an active homicide investigation, with detectives on the scene, and talking to witnesses.
Wednesday's homicide happened just a few blocks from Tuesday's homicide in North Rapid City.

Both homicide investigations involve young male victims.
Both include deadly gunshot wounds.
However with so much in common, police say there are no signs indicating the two are related.
Police say a search warrant is now part of the investigation.
