No drugs, weapons found after Twilight Drive crash, one arrested

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN The man accused of causing a serious crash on January 3, 2019 at Twilight Drive and Jolly Lane is facing multiple charges and is in the Pennington County Jail.

Rapid City Police arrested 20-year-old Elijah Wright on Friday on charges including aggravated eluding, DUI, reckless driving, speeding and four counts of vehicular battery.

The crash happened after law enforcement got a tip about a possible drug transaction involving the car Wright was driving. Deputies with the Pennington County Sheriff's Office attempted to pull the car over in the area of Highway 44 and Teewinot Drive. That's when a pursuit began.

Wright is accused of fleeing through a small area of Rapid Valley, running a stop sign at the intersection of Twilight Drive and Jolly Lane. A truck driving on Twilight Drive was hit, ending the pursuit.

While investigating the crash scene police found no evidence of drugs or weapons in the vehicle.

Wright, and three passengers along with the driver of the pickup were all taken to the hospital.
