New development in kidnapping and assault case

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - There is a new wrinkle in a Rapid City kidnapping and assault case. A witness testifies that the victim was willing to drop charges for a price.

Jesse Higgins, 37, is facing trial on first degree kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and simple assault after an incident in April involving his ex-girlfriend.

Wednesday, at motions hearing in 7th Circuit Court, a witness testified that the ex-girlfriend said, through a conversation and texts, that she hoped to drop charges and retract her statement if Higgins would give her his house, truck, and dirt bikes.

Higgins is set to go to trial later this month.
