New cookie bakery has a sweet offer to 'Bake it Forward'
Get your sweet tooth ready, because a new cookie shop just opened in Rapid City.
Mary's Mountain Cookies serves up quarter pound cookies, ranging from chocolate, marshmallow and chocolate piled high to create a s'mores cookie to an orange doodle sugar cookie.
But their aim is more than just baking monster cookies, it's to help make someone's day.
Owners Rob and Julie Mahaffey started a Bake It Forward program. Someone can buy a cookie for anyone they like, the recipient's name goes up on the board and next time they come in, they can pick up their free cookie.
But here's the catch. It's all anonymous. And there's a reason for that.
"There's nothing greater. Not only do they get a free cookie, but they spend quite a bit of time wondering who could have done this for me," said Julie. "So it reminds them that they are remembered by a lot of people."
"It's $3.50 and at the end, we spend that on a coffee or soda at the convenience store," said Rob. "We all do that, so it's just a nice gesture for someone and we can afford it."
To find out if you received a cookie, you can just check out their Facebook page at Mary's Mountain Cookies -- Rapid City.
