Mount Rushmore Rodeo wraps up for the season

HILL CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - On Sunday broncs were bucking for the last day of the Summer Buckle Series Rodeo in Hill City.

This year the Mount Rushmore Resort and Lodge at Palmer Gulch teamed up with LKC Rodeo Productions.

They wrapped up the third season with multiple competitions from barrel racing to mutton busting.

The event averages around 1,000 attendees every year.

The general manager says rodeos like theirs are good for people who have never experienced a rodeo.

Nathan Lail says, "I think this rodeo, for a lot of our guests here at Palmer Gulch, serves as kind of a highlight moment for them for the summer. A lot of our guests aren't necessarily rodeo people. Some are, but many aren't so they come to experience what it's like to be at a rodeo, to see all the events, to experience the fun, eat the food, to be together with their family."
