Kicking off the 60th annual Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo

The main event at the Civic Center doesn't start for a couple of weeks but they kicked off this year's Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo, the 60th annual, Friday afternoon.

They gathered at the Kjerstad Events Center at the Central States Fairgrounds.

The first events of this year's Stock Show are set for this weekend with a two-day team sorting event at the Fairgrounds.
The trade zone and Civic Center events get rolling in two weeks.

Stock Show general manager Ron Jeffries says, "We're just super excited to celebrate 60 years. It's a big deal for us and the community. We've been very fortunate to have a partnership with the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, to have a great facility indoors, out of the weather. And that's really one of the big steps that helps the stock show grow into such a big international-type event. I say international because we've had a lot of people from Canada who come to the show, so it's a very cool deal. It's about the 4th largest stock show in the nation."

The events at the Civic Center will wrap up on Saturday February 3rd.
There's a barrel racing event and buffalo sale on Sunday the 4th at the Fairgrounds to bring this year's Stock Show to a close.
