After having to cancel its countdown and close early on New year's Eve due to extremely cold temperatures, the Main Street Square Ice Rink had people back in motion Monday throwing on their skates and hitting the ice.
Staff says they closed the ice rink at 5 p.m. yesterday instead of hosting their last night of the year celebration. They say people did come out to skate, yet the average time they spent on ice was about seven minutes. That's due to the frigid temperatures New Year's Eve brought in. Now that it is a little less cold, people were excited to get back out on the rink.
Jacob Rondeau says, "Well this is my first time skating so I'm just looking to learn and hopefully I don't fall too many times today."
Christin Demers continues, "I'm just looking forward to being outside and having some fun in the nice weather that we're having."
Kaylie Johnson says, "I'm excited to get out and be outside with these guys so we're here visiting and it'll be fun to get outside with her and have some fun."
The Ice Rink is back on its regular schedule, from 10 a.m.- 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
