RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) As the temperatures increase outside, so will the number of litters of kittens you may find outdoors.
Many well-intentioned people bring these kittens to the Humane Society of the Black Hills.
However--the Humane Society says bringing in your kittens and attempting to bottle feed these kittens is difficult and takes time and resources, many of times which they don't have.
They encourage you to leave the kittens where they are, as the mom may be on a hunt and let nature run its course.
Kelsey Harty says, ' Mother Nature is going to be the best thing for all those baby animals. I completely understand where those people are coming from, they want to do something good for these kittens and save their lives. But a lot of times it is doing more harm than good.'
Harty adds that while they will not come and pick up a litter of kittens, they can do a welfare check on them to make sure they are being cared for.
