Humane Society implements their first Holiday Dogs program

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - For three nights this Christmas season, you can give a dog a home for the holidays.

These are some of the dogs you could temporarily adopt from December 23rd to December 26th.

As part of their first Holidays Dogs program, the Humane Society of the Black Hills is trying to give 10 dogs a break from the shelter environment and into a loving home.

One staff member says they got the idea after seeing a Virgina shelter have success with a similar program over Thanksgiving.

Jerry Steinley, resource development director, Humane Society of the Black Hills, says, "We think this is good for the dogs because it gives them a different activity during the day. They're going to leave here. They're going to somebody's home. They're going to be spoiled. They're going to get some time to play and run. It's just going to be good healthy time for the dog."

Interested families could send an email to operations@hsbh.org.

Families can not have any other animals in the home and they must live in Rapid City or the immediate area.
