Hot Springs woman identified as crash victim

OELRICHS, S.D. (KEVN/KOTA TV) - A Hot Springs woman has been identified as the person who died in a two-vehicle crash Sunday near Oelrichs.

Helen Iverson, 72, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Iverson, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, was westbound on U.S. Highway 18 when she crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. A driver coming the other way attempted to avoid Iverson’s car by swerving into another lane. Iverson then tried to get back in her lane, hitting the other vehicle.

The other driver, 69-year-old Richard Fritzler of Alliance, Neb., has minor injuries. His passenger, 72-year-old Barbara Fritzler, has life-threatening injuries.
