Herberger's announces it will reopen stores

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - What a difference a day makes.

Wednesday, Herberger’s posted on its website that the chain stores were closed for good following going out of business sales. Friday, the company message is “We’ve got great news. Herberger’s is coming back!”

It is unknown if this "comeback" includes all Herberger's locations, including Rapid City. A quick look at the Rapid City Herberger’s website says the store is “temporarily closed.” However, the phone number is still disconnected.

We are trying to nail down more details.

Herberger’s, which was established in 1927, is part of Bon-Ton Stores Inc. that owned several department store chains. In April it was announced that all of Bon-Ton’s 250 stores would close because the parent company was sold to a liquidation company.
