They give up their time all to benefit the community, that's why several people were honored at Tuesday's 2nd Annual Spirit of Volunteerism Awards luncheon at the Best Western Ramkota.

The Helpline Center recognized 47 volunteers who were nominated by area nonprofits and individuals, as well as the 12 Volunteers of the Month from the past year.
But only five people were chosen as award winners, to showcase their volunteer efforts to the community.

Lynn Taylor Rick says, "I think it's important for us to kind of help give them a venue to give that pat on the back and to hear what people are doing and it's amazing, I'm just amazed every year at what people are doing in the community, people you know, people you think you know and you find out that they are just doing these amazing things."

Jessica Benson was awarded in the youth category, Kristen Andrews won the adult shining bright category, Solomon Red Bear took home the adult up and coming award, the group category went to St. Vincent de Paul and Casey Peterson, LTD won the corporate humanitarian category.
