Health Watch: Lunges

RAPID CITY, SD (KEVN) Looking to tone your lower body -- but don't have access to any exercise equipment? Fitness guru Carol White has a solution for you.....

I'd like to demonstrate an exercise that's called the lunge. There are several ways to do a lunge, however, I'm going to use a chair. This is something you can do at home with a chair at home or anywhere you are. It is a great way to work your gluteals, your quads, stronger parts of your body. What you want to do is step up, you want to make sure your whole foot is on the bench, and come up and tap. Just barely touch, don't stomp your foot down. Make sure to get your balance, this is very good for that as well. If you want to take it to a more aggressive level, you are going to come up and tap the leg. You can use your arms while doing this and it will increase your heart rate and have it be more like cardio. You can also keep your hands at your sides or use weights. Now to work your full body we will do the glute area and go right to squats and tap your buns on your chair, back to the wall, you can use your arms or hold weights. By the time you do this circuit, you will have your heart rate up. I'm Carol White owner of Carol White's personal fitness studio.
