Former Pine Ridge Hospital head sentenced to probation
The former head of the Indian Health Service Hospital in Pine Ridge was given a probationary sentence Friday in federal court in Rapid City.
Wehnona Stabler pleaded guilty back in March to making a false statement.
Stabler admitted to not reporting a $5,000 gift from Dr. Stanley Patrick Weber, who was a pediatrician and acting clinical director at the facility.
Dr. Weber is facing charges of sexually abusing minors while he was working in Pine Ridge.
District Judge Jeffrey Viken said in court Friday there is nothing in the pre sentence report to connect those charges and the gift.
Stabler, who is now retired, was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation.
