The Force Service resumes burning slash piles in the Black Hills National Forest this week.

Crews from the Mystic Ranger District are burning piles about five miles northwest of Hill City, in the Deerfield Road and Battle Ax Road area.

They will also burn piles by the intersection of Boulder Hill Road and Sheridan Lake Road.

According to a Forest Service social media post, smoke may be visible in the area for several days.
