Food truck owner rolls in to help Cornerstone Rescue Mission
Gathering over food is a part of the holidays, but not everyone can afford a nice meal. That's where the owner of a food truck rolls in.
Angelique Mills, co-owner of Gramma’s Delicacies, a Cajun cuisine food truck, handed out food to the homeless behind Cornerstone Rescue Mission Monday. The menu: chicken and gumbo, with rice, beans, salad and lemon cake. The Mission estimated they served around 180 people.
"It's free. They can order what they want, and we aren't used to this,” said Deb Berg, volunteer coordinator for the Cornerstone Rescue Mission. “We have never had a food truck at the Mission before, so it's a nice treat."
The owners of the food truck had the idea and just wanted to give back.
"Food brings people together and I like the smile on people's face,” said Mills. “They are having something different, and we have been blessed and we need to give back."
