First ever Make Music day in the Black Hills

Rapid City, SD 700 cities around the world are celebrating the love of music and the summer season Tuesday.

Make Music day started in France to celebrate the start of summer and is now celebrated world wide on the same day.

Here in Rapid City locals can check out a variety of different venues and artists throughout the evening.

The Allied Arts Fund is sponsoring the event and says the music here is a great reason for the community to get out and enjoy the area.

Gigi Lage, executive director of the Allied Arts Fund, says, "There are so many wonderful memories with music. I mean you can create new memories with music and we want the community to get out come walk around downtown, visit the restaurants, enjoy main street square, the library, the Dahl, our Memorial Park, and just get out and enjoy Make Music Black Hills."

Derek Deyoung is one of the artists performing earlier and he said music is something that anyone and everyone can enjoy.

Make Music days encourages artists of all levels to come out and perform.

The Music continued Tuesday evening till 9:30.
