Apartment fire forces evacuations

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - A fire broke out at an apartment complex in the 2000 block of Cherry Avenue in Rapid City a little before 6:30 a.m. Friday morning.

The Rapid City Fire Department tweeted the first units arriving on scene reported heavy fire with a rescue problem.

A total of 6 rescues were completed. Before the fire department arrived, staff from Collins Siding took a ladder to the building and rescued a woman from the second floor.

All residents of the building have been accounted for. No injuries reported and no one needed EMS care.

Crews are completing overhaul throughout the morning.
