RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) Aerial footage shows miles of downed trees in Spearfish Canyon after a powerful storm hit the area Friday, June, 29, 2018.
The tornado touched down around 4:30 p.m. Friday. This footage from Monday, July 2 shows the path of destruction.
The drone video comes from photographer Barton Torbert.
The storm uprooted trees, damaged powerlines and damaged a few buildings. The same storm produced tennis ball sized hail in the Lead/Deadwood area.
According to Susan Sanders with the National Weather Service the storm path is at least 20 miles long.
The National Weather Service surveyed damage Tuesday to determine the EF Scale of the storm.
An EF0 or EF1 has wind speeds of 65 to 110 mph. A strong tornado is classified as an EF2 or EF3 with wind speeds of 111 to 165 mph.
