District updates on Black Hawk Elementary mold

By  |

Rapid City Area Schools says mold was found in the front entrance, the music room, the multi-purpose room and one bathroom at Black Hawk Elementary School, with elevated levels of allergenic and toxigenic mold in the multi-purpose room and the music room. The district says the levels in the rest of the building are in the acceptable range.

The district says contractors believe they will be able to get rid of the mold and that the school will be safe and ready for students to return to class Tuesday October 11th. They say if contractors run into more mold ... they will look at holding classes at an alternative location.
