Custer floral shop puts smiles on faces through a random act of kindness
Over 100 people in Custer received a floral surprise Wednesday morning.
Petal it Forward is an initiative organized by the Society of American Florists. Studies have shown that giving, receiving, and simply being around flowers can brighten someone's day and improve their mood. Jenny's Floral in Custer was out on the street, handing out two bouquets to each person that passed by. One bouquet is meant to be kept, and the other to be passed along to put a smile on another person's face.
Carrie Moore from Jenny's Floral says, "We've had so many interesting reactions. We've had people hug us, thank us, take pictures with us, and we have freaked some people out too. Sometimes they don't know what's going on, and they've ran away from us too, so I mean, it's a little bit of everything, but for the most part, people are really excited."
Dolsee Davenport, who received flowers says, "Everybody loves getting flowers, right? So what a great way to kind of put a smile on people's faces. I can't wait to take these back to our office and just put a smile on somebody else's face."
This is the second year that Jenny's Floral has done this random act of kindness. They handed out 220 bouquets Wednesday.
